Always special, the great destination of..............

"Coconut Johnny" now deceased, and his lovely
wife, Mary transformed uninhabited, scrubby, Prune Island into the most
picturesque tropical island in the Grenadines. Their story of sailing
the Caribbean, leasing Prune Island for 19 years from St. Vincent and
years of backbreaking work is part of the charm of this casual, fun
loving resort. John planted thousands of coconut palms on Palm
Island and neighboring islands up and down the Caribbean in the last 25
years. Their lifetime dream is built on 120 acres of hills, a lake, and
white sandy coves rimmed with the clear turquoise Caribbean Sea.
Trails through the palm groves lead to the 24 beach-front cottages. The
deluxe rooms each have an overhead fan, king size beds, private outdoor
shower, refrigerator, coffee-maker and patio.
The restaurant/bar is also located right on the beach a few steps from
each cottage. Meals are casual, delicious, and a great opportunity to
sample West Indian cuisine. Fresh fish is a specialty along with
international favorites. Every afternoon at 4 PM, tea is served on your
patio or at the gazebo. A weekly BBQ, a local steel band, and a night
out on Union Island will provide evening entertainment.
Water sports are king on Palm Island. A scuba shop offers daily dives
and snorkel safaris. Sailboards, sunfish, and small runabouts are
available for guests' use. Sailing charters, day-sails, picnics, and
jaunts to neighboring islands are easy to arrange with the resort staff.
If all this activity is too much, just relax in a palm-shaded hammock
and savor the peace and tranquility. You can be busy every minute or do
nothing at all. A boutique, tennis court, and game room with Ping-Pong
are just down the beach. Highway 90 is a walking, jogging, fitness trail
around the island.
Getting to Palm Island is half the fun. Inter
island air provides the service between Barbados and Union Island and
landing is a great thrill. One of the staff will pick you up at the
airport for the 1-mile boat ride over to the island. Sailing the
Grenadines is how most visitors find Palm Island. Once discovered, you
won't want to leave.
